ESSAY
Little by
little, although with much effort, on the one hand and on the other, spaces are
opening up in the media that are trying to transform the collective amnesia
that has characterized much of our society in terms of what it means to live in
a country where freedom of expression is one of the rights emanating from our
Magna Carta. In a country with freedom of expression like ours, in theory, you
cannot promote racial rejection or encourage murder.
Expression
should never be subject to prior censorship: instead, there is self-censorship
that cannot be regulated on the basis of subsequent responsibility.
As an example of
a denunciation, a simple journalist denounces a program for corruption and
diversion of money, the justice system sides with the program in exchange for
bills, and sanctions the journalist who told the truth.
It could be said
that we are in a society where money has more weight than the law and truth
acting unjustly and hypocritically.
The documentary
"Freedom of Expression; Journalism in Mexico" talks about how
journalists have words marked in their minds, such as death, fear, silence and
censorship.
Mexico is not
seen to be a place of conflict because it is not tested; this tells us that
there those who try to unmask the truth are silenced.
Unfortunately,
today in the 21st century, journalists have added vulnerabilities because of
their membership in indigenous communities, or because of their gender, since
we continue to live in a macho society that thinks that men are superior to
women in all areas, acting in a stupid and erroneous way.
The silencing of
a journalist by the authorities follows the same pattern, which is to associate
death not with his work but with his personal life.
Freedom of
expression has been silenced for quite some time now, as long as organized
crime, violence, drug trafficking and, above all, corruption go unpunished.
Impunity is the
driving force behind this violence which, in the end, leads to the conclusion
that in eight years 133 journalists have been killed for free.
There is a 90%
rate of impunity for crimes committed against journalists.
Art.19- The
biggest aggressor against the press is the State itself.
Article 19
Everyone has the
right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold
opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and
ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
All of this is
deeply corrupt and unpunished.

Magna letter:
The Magna letter
that governs the destinies of the English was established long ago. Several
countries have emerged and disappeared in the space of 800 years - the most
significant and promising was the USSR, now extinct. The greatness of England
lies in the observance, by the monarch John, called "John without
land", of the principles established in the so-called "Magna letter"
since the medieval period. Much has been derived from it, but we leave that to
the best opinion of whoever wants to read the present article. Whoever writes
this wants to point out, in a decisive way, the fact that the citizens
represented in those times by the nobility, dared to challenge the power of the
one who had become a dictator and left victorious of the lance leaving a
historical contribution of much weight to the coming generations. Of course,
there were sacrifices of lives; however, the power of the pen instead of the
weapons demonstrated, already since then, its strength. This should serve as an
example for those of us who, in the present day, doubt the way to act towards
individuals who, with a tiny amount of power, do not feel obliged to abide by
the supreme mandate of the people.
Another
principle that evolved from the Magna letter is freedom of expression, which,
although not mentioned as such in the text, does establish the separation of
church and state, as well as the church's freedom from state interference.

Speaking about
humanitarian law and the mobilization of workers, it can be said that workers
only seek to defend their rights that are violated by that law that harms them.
As my conclusion
I want to say that freedom of expression must be defended to fight against
corruption, the state, corrupt laws, and the hunger for money that the
hypocritical government has, we must be in favor of the first line of combat,
the journalists, those who only seek to get at the truth and deny the fallacies
that the corrupt make us believe.
Phrase: You
don't kill the truth by killing journalists.
